The model below is the head for a vintage Grand Shave King Self Lubricating double edge razor. It was the most favorite of my vintage razors before disaster struck. One day, while changing the blade, the thread stud snapped off in the handle. Most likely years of use and a bit of corrosion led to a stress crack. This razor was only made for a few years making it relatively expensive when you do find it for sale online. I decided to model the head in hopes some day I would be able to make a new, and perhaps, better version of it. A 3D printed prototype from my Solidworks model is functional and fits the razor. Using a fine 0.05mm layer resolution the threads are functional. I even shaved with it once, however, when made out of plastic, the head lacks the rigidity to hold the blade properly. I do not currently have access to the tooling that would be needed to make this part out of metal due to the extremely fine fingers on the head (the slots are only .035 wide). Possible options to machine the slots would be wire EDM, waterjet or a slitting saw.
